The Aaron Rodgers waiting game continues – and that could spell bad news for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In what is arguably the most intriguing storyline of the NFL offseason, the four-time MVP remains unsigned just weeks ahead of this year’s draft.
Rodgers is yet to make a decision on his NFL future, with the Steelers hoping to sign himRodgers, coming off a tough run with the New York Jets, is said to be close to landing with Pittsburgh.
Even Steelers owner and president Art Rooney II said this week that he keeps hearing the star quarterback is ‘headed in our direction’.
But according to one NFL insider, the situation might not be so simple.
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio has revealed that a ‘high-level’ NFL executive has told him that he’s convinced Rodgers doesn’t want to play in Pittsburgh.
“I had somebody suggest to me yesterday, and I’m just sharing what I heard, what this person’s opinion is,” Florio said on his podcast on Wednesday.
“It’s not a fact; it’s not a report. But it’s somebody who is in the ecosystem and isn’t a low-level employee.
“This is a high-level person with one of the teams. The opinion is (Rodgers) doesn’t really want to play for the Steelers, and he’s waiting for Minnesota.”
“I don’t know if that’s an unpopular or uncommon opinion… there is a thought out there that he really doesn’t want to play for Pittsburgh.
“If he did, he would already be there.”
The Vikings, of course, were one of the other teams said to be keeping tabs on Rodgers last month.

Given Rodgers is yet to commit to the Steelers, perhaps he is not fully convinced that’s the case.
And while the veteran is in a position to take his time over his future, the longer he leaves any decision, the more Pittsburgh will be sweating.
After losing Russell Wilson and Justin Fields in free agency, the Steelers put all their eggs into the Rodgers basket.
Only Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson remain in the quarterback room as things stand.
Should Rodgers eventually turn down the Steelers, he would be leaving them in a brutal position.
Tomlin and the Steelers could be made to sweat over Rodgers’ decisionGettyRudolph and Thompson have just 21 NFL starts between them, and neither are viewed as a signal caller that could take the team to the playoffs.
Essentially, Rodgers holds all the cards, and the latest update from Florio might have Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin starting to sweat.
The insider’s PFT co-host, Chris Simms, also suggested that the 41-year-old could be interested in joining the Vikings to ‘one up’ the career of Brett Favre.
Rodgers’ career has already been closely linked to the Hall of Famer who came before him.
Both had legendary runs with the Green Bay Packers, where they became Super Bowl champions.
After leaving Wisconsin, both joined the Jets.
Favre, of course, then swapped New York for Minnesota, and played the final two seasons of his career with the Vikings.
“They could win the Super Bowl with him,” Simms said of Minnesota and Rodgers.

“He’s going maybe with the Brett Favre. ‘Hey, it’s the same career arc but I can one-up him. I might of one-upped him in Green Bay and now I can one-up him in Minnesota.’
