It was an unfortunate way to lose against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but that shouldn’t entirely spoil an epic Nikola Jokic performance.
The Denver Nuggets lost on some late blunders from Russell Westbrook, missed free throws, and some unfortunate miscues on both ends of the floor. Jokic had 61 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, an unbelievable performance that should have warranted a win in a double overtime thriller.
Denver was without Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. in this game, but Jokic and Aaron Gordon stepped up in a big way. It should have been enough to win, but it simply wasn’t, as the Timberwolves won their sixth game in a row vs the Nuggets dating back to last year’s playoffs.
On the latest episode of Pickaxe and Roll, Ryan Blackburn breaks down the heartbreaking loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, a 140-139 Double Overtime thriller that saw Nikola Jokic put up a 60-point triple-double. Russell Westbrook’s late blunders cost Denver an unfortunate game they worked exceedingly hard to get.
Ryan goes over the mistakes, Jokic’s greatness, Aaron Gordon’s game, and Denver’s matchup against the T’Wolves in an impending playoff series.
