Bill Murray has an interesting take on … menopause?
Naomi Watts was discussing her recent book, Dare I Say It, during a Monday, March 31, appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen alongside Murray, 74. While Watts, 56, was discussing the book, the comedian decided to take a lime out of his drink and throw it into the audience — which made for a rather awkward moment.
“What’s one thing about the menopause journey that you wish you knew as a younger woman?” host Andy Cohen asked. Watts replied, “That it’s not the end. We were told once you can no longer have babies, you’re chucked off into the pile and you’re useless.”
Mid-sentence, Watts started laughing as Murray chucked the lime.
“What is he doing?” she asked. Cohen, 56, replied, “He’s throwing limes.”

Watts continued, “No more drinking, Bill, I’m talking about menopause. Can you handle it?”
Murray said, “Give me one second,” before taking a sip of his drink. “Alright, go ahead,” he added.

“We need to start with the education to remove shame,” Watts continued. “And help women feel like it is a time to thrive, not to disappear.”
Murray was quick to redeem himself by bringing up Watts’ book and asking her the title. (Dare I Say It: Everything I Wish I’d Known About Menopause was released in January.)
“You got me twice,” the comedian said. “I asked her, ‘What’s the name of your book?’ She said, ‘Dare I Say It.’ I said, ‘Tell me the name of the damn book.’ The name of the book is Dare I Say It.”

Elsewhere during the episode, Cohen asked Murray what he knew about menopause. Instead of answering the question, Murray brought up Selena Gomez.
“Let me just say that I don’t know Selena Gomez’s songs and I didn’t really know much about Selena Gomez, but when I met Selena Gomez and worked with her on the [2019] Jim Jarmusch movie [The Dead Don’t Die], I thought that’s an extraordinary person,” Murray said. “She is really a great person. … That girl can do anything.”
Watts said, “You dodged the menopause question.”
Murray goes, “Oh, yeah,” before Cohen saved him.
“I think he’s trying to say that Selena Gomez will face it head-on,” Cohen said, which elicited laughter from both of his guests. “That’s what you were trying to say, right?”
Murray responded, “Selena, if you’re out there, Dare I Say It, it’s available at all your bookstores.”
