The SEC leads all college conferences with 80 players represented on Opening Day rosters. The next closest league is the ACC with 63 players. The Big 12 (46), Big Ten (42) and AAC (21) round out the top 5.

Former Florida star Wyatt Langford is another high-profile name that’s expected to take big strides this season.
Ex-Tennessee ace Garrett Crochet earned the Opening Day start on Thursday in his Boston Red Sox debut. He was traded to Boston from the Chicago White Sox this past offseason. He also had a big breakout 2024 campaign in his first year as a starter and is now widely-regarded as one of the best starters in the sport.
Former Vanderbilt pitcher Sonny Gray is also once again taking the bump on Opening Day. Gray will pitch for the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday afternoon against his former team, the Minnesota Twins.
