Israel declares Hamas Spokesman assassination ...Iraq

In a statement, the Israeli armysaid that "airstrike carried out in northern Gaza last night, resulting inthe death of Abdel Latif Rajab Jumaa Al-Qanoua, the spokesman for Hamas."

Hamas mourned Al-Qanoua, describinghim as a courageous and responsible individual.

Born in Jabalia, Al-Qanoua was oneof Hamas' most prominent spokesmen.

He initially held student leadershiproles within the movement before becoming responsible for the Hamas mediaoffice in northern Gaza in 2007. He officially became Hamas' spokesman in 2016.
