DENVER (KDVR) — A Pinpoint Weather Alert Day has been issued through Tuesday night as windy conditions pair with a blast of snow, reducing visibility and leading to very difficult travel for parts of Colorado.
Denver's weather will be impacted by this, but the biggest impacts will be in the mountains and eastern plains
Weather tonight: Windy, snow
Strong wind gusts continue tonight, reaching 45-50 mph in many spots as low temperatures fall to the 20s.
Denver will see a few snow showers, but most of the heavy snowfall will be in the mountains.
This accumulating snowfall, plus blowing snow, will lead to difficult travel in the high country and Eastern Plains, and is fueling winter weather advisories through Wednesday morning.
Blizzard warnings east of the metro will start this evening and carry into Wednesday with only an inch of snowfall.
Weather tomorrow: Dry, breezy, cooler
Behind this system, Wednesday will be dry, breezy and cooler.
High temperatures will only reach the mid-40s, which is about 10 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year.
High wind warnings will be in effect for eastern Colorado as wind gusts reach 60-70 mph.
Looking ahead: breezy, mild temps return
The week ends with breezy, but mild conditions. Temperatures both Thursday and Friday will start in the 20s, then climb to the mid-to-upper 50s.
Temperatures in the 60s return on Saturday alongside a mainly sunny sky. Temperatures will take a slight dip to the mid-50s alongside a strong breeze on Sunday.
A warming trend moves in for the start of the workweek with highs in the 60s Monday and Tuesday.
