Some call the Miracle Mile the heartbeat of Stockton. There is shopping, dining and entertainment – but as one business owner told CBS News Sacramento, this stretch has been needing a polish and shine.
Amid talk to jumpstart the neighborhood, the city says they've finally secured a contractor to take on the $20 million revitalization project.
Some of the planned improvements to the Miracle Mile – which is located between the University of the Pacific Campus and Harding Way – include landscaping, lighting, security, and enhanced facades for the businesses – all while maintaining the district's historical style.
Siegfried Engineering has been selected as the contractor for this project and the timeline has them expected to complete the design of the Miracle Mile by fall of 2026.
His death put safety in the spotlight on the Miracle Mile, and this project aims to prevent tragedies like that from happening again.
