The clip of Tucker Harrington Pillsbury performing the song, backed by a band, was originally posted on X, formerly Twitter, on March 13 by the fan account The Swift Society, but not all Taylor fans approve.
“what does a man know about nothing new,” posted one fan, with knowledge that the song was written by Swift about how female musicians are treated in the music business.
Another fan posted simply, “DELETE,” in response to the Role Model clip.
Yet another seemed to prefer the more rocking approach that Role Model takes to Swift’s acoustic original. “i’m sorry, but if nothing new had this kind of production I would like it a lot more,” they wrote.
Another had a violent reaction. “The way I thought that was John Mayer—I f--king GAGGED,” they wrote.

— The Swift Society (@TheSwiftSociety) March 14, 2025“Phoebe Bridgers is one of my favorite artists in the world,” Swift said. “If she sings it, I will listen to it. I love her voice, and I also love that she’s a very funny person,” she added. “I really wanted another female artist who I loved to sing it with me, because I think it was a very female artist perspective … And her response was, ‘I’ve been waiting for this text my entire life.’”
