London Gamble, a junior guard on the Northern Colorado women’s basketball team, was named to the Big Sky Conference honorable mention, the conference announced Friday.

Gamble was the only Northern Colorado player selected for a postseason team. Gamble is a first-year player from the Los Angeles area after transferring from Siena College, near Albany, New York.

She led the Bears in scoring with 10.4 points, and she averaged 2.3 rebounds and almost one assist in 29 games. Gamble shot 43% from the field and 34% from 3-point range.

Gamble played 62 games in two seasons at Siena. She averaged 6.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and about two assists as a freshman in 2022-23. Gamble made 24 starts in 30 games last year. She averaged 6.6 points and 3.7 rebounds.

Northern Colorado beat Portland State 53-50 in a first-round Big Sky Conference Tournament game on Saturday afternoon in Boise, Idaho. Forward Aniah Hall led UNC with 12 points on 6 of 6 shooting from the floor. She also had five rebounds. Gamble finished with 2 points on 0 for 7 shooting from the field.

The Bears (14-16) meet No. 1 Montana State in a second-round game Sunday afternoon.

The tournament began Saturday, UNC and Portland State were the first game on the schedule, and extends through Wednesday evening at Idaho Central Arena.

Montana State (27-3) won 17 of 18 conference games during the regular season.

Bobcats senior guard Esmeralda Morales was the most valuable player and a unanimous all-conference first-team selection. She goes into the conference tournament third in the conference in scoring at 15.2 points and fourth in steals (1.9).

Marah Dykstra joined Morales on the first team, Bobcats freshman Taylee Chirrick was named the defensive player of the year and Tricia Binford was the coach of the year for the fifth time. Chirrick led the conference in steals with 3.2.

Katelynn Martin was named to the second team for Montana State.

Idaho’s Olivia Nelson was the newcomer of the year, ranking fifth in scoring at 14.3 points. She was also a unanimous selection to the first team. Northern Arizona’s Taylor Feldman and Sophie Glancey were also unanimous picks to the first team.

Eastern Washigton’s Kourtney Grossman was the freshman of the year. She was the conference’s top rebounder at 10.4.

Northern Arizona’s Saniyah Neverson was named the top reserve. She averaged 7.2 points and 7.9 rebounds.
