Brian Kelly has made a decision on LSU’s next defensive line coach, according to a report.
Per 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, the Tigers are set to hire former LSU star and ex-National Champion Kyle Williams for the role. Williams, who also played for the Buffalo Bills for more than a decade before retiring, was an All-SEC performer for LSU under Nick Saban and Les Miles.
Williams is expected to replace Bo Davis, who departed this offseason for a job on Kellen Moore’s coaching staff with the New Orleans Saints.

This hire follows an extensive search by LSU. Most recently, it was reported that Florida defensive line coach Gerald Chapman decided to stay with the Gators rather than move to Baton Rouge.
While Williams doesn’t have any college coaching experience as he takes on this role, he does at the high school level. He served as the defensive coordinator at his alma mater, Ruston High School from 2020-24.
Williams is extremely accomplished as a player. He was a member of LSU’s National Championship team in 2003 and went on to earn All-SEC and All-America honors during his playing career in Baton Rouge. He was then a 6-time Pro Bowler during a 13-year NFL career with the Bills.
Brian Kelly and LSU have not yet confirmed the hire.
