MEGA Millions players have been urged to double check their tickets as a slip now worth $1 million has yet to be cashed in.

The slip was sold at a Walmart supermarket in Meadville, Pennsylvania – located around 90 miles from Pittsburgh.

State lotto officials revealed the ticket was sold ahead of the draw on March 4.

And, the player came agonizingly close to winning the jackpot.

This is because they matched all five white balls drawn, per the Pennsylvania Lottery.

The clock has started ticking as the gambler has one year to come forward and collect their windfall.

But, officials have warned gamblers who buy tickets from stores should sign the back of their slips.

If and when the player comes forward, their prize will be cut at the state and federal level.

Players who win more than $5,000 must pay 24% in tax to the federal government.

And, they must pay a rate of 3.07% to the state.

This is lower compared to states like New York which tax players at 10.9%.

Meanwhile, New Jersey and Oregon lotto winners are hit with an 8% tax on their prizes.

There was only one player who matched five white numbers in Tuesday’s draw.

No player won the jackpot which stood at an estimated $213 million.

This means the prize pot has rolled over to Friday’s draw and it now stands at an estimated $233 million.

There has only been one Mega Millions jackpot winner of 2025.

This accolade went to a player in Arizona, who scooped a $112 million prize.

The Mega Millions, which has existed since 1996, is to undergo a revamp in the coming weeks.

In October last year, bosses announced a number of changes that would come into force from April 5.

Currently it costs $2 to play the game of chance, but the price of a ticket will rise to $5.

This change has proved controversial and has appalled some players.

Some have claimed they would stop playing the game because of the rise.

But, bosses have revealed players will see improved odds of winning, and faster growing prize pots.

Breakeven prizes will be a thing of the past as well.

But in light of the changes, state lotto bosses are limiting the number of advance tickets that can be bought.
