Kevin Durant, with the help of an unlikely sidekick, took over to help the Suns overcome a 19-point deficit entering the fourth quarter for a 119-117 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday.
Durant scored 19 of his 34 points in the fourth, which Phoenix won 43-22. He had just eight in the first half, after which the Clippers were ahead 65-49.
His shooting was elite in the final frame, 6-for-9 from the field including 3-for-5 from deep.

Two-way guard Collin Gillespie, who has spent much of the season with the G League Valley Suns, had his coming-out party in the fourth scoring all 10 of his points on the night. It was a career high in a Suns uniform for the former Villanova standout.
When the fourth began, no Suns player had a higher plus/minus than +1. Gillespie blew that number out of the water at final with a +21, helped by his three assists and no turnovers.
Four other Suns were in double figures, including Devin Booker (17 points and eight assists), Nick Richards (16 points), Mason Plumlee (14 points) and Royce O’Neale (12 points). Phoenix had 31 assists on 41 made shots with 11 turnovers.
The Clippers were paced by Ivica Zubac’s 35 points, although he missed a tip-in that would’ve tied the game in the final seconds. Kawhi Leonard and James Harden had 21 points apiece.
