Russell reflected on her experience on the show during a new appearance on The Thrivalist Podcast, speaking with host Jamie George about her thoughts on performing her grandmother's hit song, "Coal Miner's Daughter."
The new mother shared that it wasn't her choice to sing the song, saying, "The judges picked three songs, and the only one I knew was 'Coal Miner's Daughter'...I just remember seeing that and I was so mad."
However, she went on to perform the song, saying, "It was just how I wanted to play it, and I had this entire vision for it," with Shane Glover, who was hosting the podcast alongside George, telling her, "It was fabulous."
