The Jacksonville Jaguars will hold in-person interviews this week for their general manager opening. So throughout the process up to this point, what role has quarterback Trevor Lawrence had in the search process?
On a recent appearance on the Up & Adams show with Kay Adams, Lawrence was asked that question.
“I’m not involved in any of that,” Lawrence said. “I know obviously there’s interviews happening but none of the GM stuff I’m not involved in any of that. I think it’s better that way. There has to be some separation, right? From players–they have a different role, they have a different job to do.”

The Jaguars held virtual interviews last week for their GM opening with 10 candidates. On Saturday, the team announced that five of those candidates are finalists for the role.
This group includes Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham, Packers VP of Player Personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan, Jaguars interim GM Ethan Waugh, Rams Director of Scouting James Gladstone, and 49ers Director of Scouting and Football Operations Josh Williams.
The second round of interviews will begin on Wednesday February 19th and take place in Jacksonville.
The team hopes to have a new GM in place by the weekend with the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis set to begin next Monday.
On a recent appearance on 1010XL, Executive VP Tony Boselli mentioned that the search committee was made up of himself, owner Shad Khan, head coach Liam Coen, and team President Mark Lamping.
“Personnel-wise, when I’m asked,” added Lawrence, “I have a good feel of people that are here, guys that I have good chemistry or good rapport with. Obviously they ask me when new staff’s coming in different things and my pulse on the team, but as far as the GM stuff I’m not involved in any of that.”
