THE Philadelphia Eagles are “starting to talk” about building a new stadium as they near the end of their lease at Lincoln Financial Field.
Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie admitted that the franchise could move away from the stadium that has been their home since 2003.

But perhaps it could be time for the Eagles to fly the nest and build their own home elsewhere.
Lurie admitted that the current lease on Lincoln Financial Field is set to expire in 2032.
And although that is still seven years away, it opens up the door to begin thinking about plans for the future.
That’s exactly what Lurie and the execs in Philadelphia are doing, with the 73-year-old franchise owner admitting: “We’re starting to talk all about it and think about what our options are.”
Lurie, who has owned the Eagles since 1994, was asked about the possibility of moving into a domed stadium to shut out the elements and allow Philadelphia to host some of football‘s biggest events.
He explained: “I don’t have a strong opinion about it because you’re torn.
“I love outdoor football. I love it. I love the cold games. I like the hot games. I like the snow games.
“On the other hand, does Philadelphia deserve to host the Super Bowl? The NCAA Final Four? Lots of great events.
“It’s an incredible sports city. Does it deserve that? Yes, so you’ve got to balance all of those things.”
Philadelphia has never hosted a Super Bowl, but will be one of the host cities for a different major sporting event coming up.
Lincoln Financial Field is one of 16 stadiums that will play host to games for the 2026 World Cup in the US, Canada and Mexico.
