WARREN — City police responded to a domestic disturbance late Tuesday that led to a juvenile allegedly stabbing his mother. The juvenile, whose name was not disclosed, is now facing a charge of felonious assault.
The incident occurred at an apartment complex at 503 Southern Blvd. NW, near the intersection of Reserve Avenue NW and Avon Oaks apartments.
According to a police report, officers were dispatched at 10:17 p.m. Tuesday after receiving reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers encountered a woman with a stab wound on her right arm. The injury, described as approximately 3 inches long with visible tissue damage, was treated by emergency medical personnel before the victim was transported to a local hospital for further care.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the altercation began as an argument over a cellphone between the victim and her juvenile son. The situation escalated when the juvenile produced a pocket knife and stabbed the victim in the arm, the police report states.
The victim retreated to another room and the juvenile remained in the apartment until officers arrived. Officers secured the scene and instructed all occupants to exit the apartment.
Upon entering, they located the juvenile suspect in a rear bedroom holding a knife. After repeated commands, the suspect complied with orders to drop the weapon and was taken into custody without further incident, the report states.
The knife, described as a silver and brown pocket knife, was seized as evidence.
