Vanderbilt was fined again. The SEC hit the Commodores for the second court-storming in a week on Sunday.
These celebrations on the West End are getting pricey. Vanderbilt will have to pay Kentucky $500,000 after Commodore fans stormed the court at Memorial Gym following Vandy’s 74-69 win over No. 9 UK.

— Southeastern Conference (@SEC) January 26, 2025The SEC adopted a new access to competition area policy at the Spring Meetings in 2023. While the Commodores did not have any violations during the 2023-24 athletic season, they’ve been busy in 2024-25.
The first violation came on the gridiron in October when Diego Pavia helped lead Clark Lea’s squad to a monumental upset of a No. 1 Alabama team. That first violation resulted in a $100,000 fine.
The second fine was issued just last week. The Dores were penalized after fans stormed the court when Vanderbilt took down in-state rival Tennessee.
On Saturday, Vanderbilt AD Candice Lee was seen pleading to students to not storm the court and avoid the fine, noting those funds could potentially go toward compensating next year’s team. Lee was unable to stop the court storming.
