THE Apprentice’s Karren Brady has admitted that “friendships were tested” during “intense” filming of the new series, as she reunites with Alan Sugar and Tim Campbell.

Eighteen fresh faces will take to the boardroom next week in a showdown as they aim to get “hired” not “fired” by Lord Sugar.,

Along with Tim Campbell – who won the first ever series of the show – Karren is one of Lord Sugar’s trusted advisors on The Apprentice.

She has been on the show since 2008, and even appeared on the Celebrity version for Comic Relief as a contestant.

Karren is known for her tough talk in the boardroom and no nonsense attitude during the weekly tasks.

She has been friends with Lord Sugar for years, and met through their business ventures and moving in similar circles.

Karren is back for the 2025 series, but has revealed it was a tough one to shoot.

Taking taking to X/Twitter, the multi-millionaire tweeted: “Filming Season 19 was intense.

“When everything’s on the line, tensions rise, friendships are tested, and the boardroom battles get brutal.

“You won’t want to miss it.”

Show shake-up

Meanwhile, ahead of The Apprentice launch next week, Lord Sugar has announced a huge shake-up of the show.

To keep contestants on their toes, Lord Sugar decided that for the first time, the opening task – which takes place in the Alps – would not be divided into teams of men and women, but two mixed groups.

He explained: “We’ve split them into sexes in the past purely to help the audience get to know the candidates quickly, it just felt like an easy thing to do.

“This year, we decided to mix it up from the outset.

“It’s quite a refreshing addition to the first episode, and it’s interesting to see how they handle being a mixed team because it’s not what they necessarily expected from the start.”

He’s had five female business partners in a row, after the girls proved they have what it takes to dominate The Apprentice’s boardroom once again last series.

The Apprentice biggest moments

THE Apprentice has been a fan favourite ever since it burst onto the box in 2005.

Here we take a look at five of the biggest moments over the years on the hit BBC One show.

Tim Campbell – Former London Underground transport manager Tim Campbell won the first series of the reality show in 2005. He is now one of Lord Sugar’s aides on the show.

Sarah Lynn and James White – For the first and only time in the show’s history, both finalists were crowned winners in 2017.

Amy Anzel – Season 16’s fired candidate Amy Anzel was BANNED from the final celebration show, after a tit-for-tat exchange over Lord Sugar’s mocking tweets.

Michelle Dewberry – Telecoms consultant Michelle Dewberry won the second series of the show in 2006. However, after winning a six-figure job with Lord Sugar she lasted just four months before she sensationally quit.

Selena Waterman-Smith – We’re used to tensions running high in the boardroom, but in 2015 a disagreement between two candidates spilled over – for the first time – into a physical bust-up. Events manager Selina Waterman-Smith was given a verbal warning by show bosses for her role in an off-camera scrap with Charleine Wain.

Gym owner Rachel Woolford took home the investment to grow her North Studios, following in the footsteps of Marnie Swindells in 2023, owner of boxing gym Bronx.

Now, Lord Sugar has had to issue a sharp warning to his latest male recruits, if they are to have any hope in keeping up with their female counterparts this year.

He said: “I’ve always said women in business are great, they are very, very focused.

“Women haven’t got that kind of problem of flexing their muscles and trying to show what big shots they are, they just get on with it.

“They get on with the job in hand.

“Some of my best employees have been women, going back to the eighties, it’s just always been that way.

“The male candidates need to be shrewd, be clever, and be smart – it’s not rocket science.”
