(PINPOINT WEATHER) -- A low-pressure system moving to our south brought some accumulating snow to several neighborhoods Tuesday evening! Amounts ranged from a dusting to a few inches possible for areas east of Charlotte. Roads became slick fast and will remain slippery into Wednesday. Be extra careful if you have to drive! The snow will continue to move out overnight.

Charlotte area schools announce closures, remote learning ahead of winter weather

Temperatures are falling into the teens tonight, with single-digit wind chills by morning. The mountains will feel even colder, with chills as cold as 10-20 below zero possible. This dangerous level of cold has again prompted Cold Weather Advisories for much of the region, with Extreme Cold Warnings in effect for the mountains. Even with the sunshine returning for Wednesday, highs will only reach the low 30s.

Fortunately, we come out of the deep freeze by the weekend. Friday & Saturday, we're back in the 40s, with normal January temps expected next week (highs in the 50s). Some rain is possible by next Monday.

Tonight: Snow ending, but slick roads linger. Low 18.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and cold. High 33.
