He suffered an atrial flutter, where his heart rate was beating abnormally high.
The coach was treated in the locker room by paramedics, who got his heart rate back to normal.
Harbaugh wore a heart monitor for two weeks after the incident.
And the Chargers coach will now have a cardiac ablation before the 2025 season.
According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, the operation uses mild radiofrequency heat energy to destroy the tissues which are causing the arrhythmia.
“It would take my heart stopping for me not to be out there on the sideline,” Harbaugh said in October.
The incident this year was the second time Harbaught has experienced it in his career.
He had a flare-up in 2012 while coaching the San Francisco 49ers against the Chicago Bears.
Harbaugh felt an irregular heartbeat but finished the game and saw doctors afterwards.
The Chargers coach will also have a hip operation during the off-season.
Harbaugh will have a full hip replacement, which will hopefully correct the limp that he walks with.
Los Angeles finished second in the AFC West with an 11-6 record in Harbaugh’s first year in charge.
But they fell to a disappointing 32-12 defeat by the Houston Texans in the wild card round of the AFC playoffs.
Harbaugh leaped to the defence of quarterback Justin Herbert after his performance in that game was criticized.

“I wouldn’t spend two more seconds thinking about what happened in that game,” he said.
