Former Alabama star defensive lineman Marcell Dareus was arrested in Hoover, Alabama, on Monday on charges of second-degree domestic and third-degree domestic violence/harassment, according to jail records.
The 34-year-old Dareus turned himself in at the Jefferson County Jail on Monday afternoon. He was released from jail about an hour later after posting $36,000 bond.

— carol robinson (@RobinsonCarol) January 14, 2025According to Hoover police, officers were called on Dec. 30 to the Lake Cyrus neighborhood by a woman who reported a domestic violence incident with her boyfriend, who she identified as Dareus.
Capt. Keith Czeskleba reported that the victim told police a verbal argument escalated, during which Dareus shoved her to the ground and subsequently used an object to cause damage to her personal property that was in excess of $2,500.
According to a protection from abuse petition that was filed by his girlfriend, Dareus has been accused of hitting her car with a metal object. There are supporting documents, including photographs of a shattered windshield.
Dareus reportedly left the area prior to police arrival.
After a standout career at Alabama that included Dareus leading the Crimson Tide to the 2009 national title, Dareus was a 2-time Pro Bowler with the Buffalo Bills in 2013 and 2014. After 7 seasons with the Bills, Dareus played for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2017-19.
