PENN State quarterback Drew Allar is returning to college football for one more season.
After losing in the College Football Playoff semifinal, Allar has decided to return to Penn State.
Drew Allar is returning to Penn State for a final season Allar’s draft stock might have dropped following his College Football Playoff performanceAllar’s name was floating around as a potential first-round NFL Draft talent if he decided to declare, but he will play one more season to try to boost that stock.
Allar had an atrocious performance in the CFP semifinal, throwing for just 135 yards with no touchdowns.
He threw a costly interception at the end of the game that ultimately allowed Notre Dame to move on to the championship.
Allar would have been one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 draft following Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward.
Instead, Allar will try the 2026 class that includes names like Arch Manning and Carson Beck.
Allar was the No. 1 quarterback prospect in the 2022 recruiting class and the No. 3 overall prospect.
He served as the backup in his freshman season before taking the reigns in 2023.
So far in his career, Allar has passed for 6,302 yards with 53 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
He has also rushed for 564 yards with 11 touchdowns.
His numbers aren’t as impressive as the likes of Sanders and Ward, which probably factored into his decision to return to school.
College football fans have mixed opinions about Allar’s choice and shared their thoughts on social media.
“Penn State is gonna be legit next year yet again. Watch out,” one fan said.
“He has no choice. His draft stock was gonna be in the dirt after that bowl game loss,” another fan said.
“With how he ended the season, I don’t blame him,” a third fan said.
Penn State crushed SMU and Boise State by a combined 45 points on their way to the semifinal.
