Alabama no longer holds a 5-star offensive lineman’s verbal commitment. Multiple outlets reported Monday that Ty Haywood formally decommitted from the Crimson Tide.
While every development in Haywood’s recruitment makes headlines because of his ratings, Monday’s news is largely seen as a formality. Haywood verbally pledged to play for Kalen DeBoer on July 14. When he did not sign with Alabama in December, it became clear he would not be joining the Crimson Tide.
The biggest day for the 2025 recruiting cycle was Dec. 4. While it was frequently referred to as “National Signing Day,” it was officially the beginning of the Early Signing Period. Technically speaking, National Signing Day is held on the first Wednesday in February. It appears Haywood will be signing on National Signing Day, and likely with Michigan.

On the 247Sports Composite, Haywood is rated 5-stars, the No. 4 offensive tackle, No. 6 player in the state of Texas and No. 20 prospect overall in the Class of 2025.
Haywood received scholarship offers from 33 programs. In addition to Alabama, he also visited Florida State, Oklahoma, TCU and Texas A&M.
Even without Haywood, Alabama has the Composite’s No. 3 recruiting class for 2025.
