THE LA Lakers game against the Charlotte Hornets has been called off as deadly fires rip through Los Angeles.
The NBA fixture was due to tip off at 7.30 PST (10.30ET) tonight (Thursday) at the Crypto.com Arena.
That is barely miles away from where multiple blazes have destroyed homes and businesses.
It includes the home of Lakers head coach JJ Redick which was annihilated by the inferno.
At least five people have been killed, along with thousands of injuries reported.
But with police and the community battling against the raging infernos, the game has been suspended.
It is not yet known when they will play the rescheduled tie.
Earlier, the NBA had released a separate statement over the devastating situation.
“We are in communication with the Lakers and Hornets,” said Mike Bass, their Chief Communications Officer.
“We continue to closely monitor the situation to determine if any scheduling adjustments are necessary related to today’s game.”
