Gold Line light rail service's 15-minute frequency will run from 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on weekdays, SacRT says.
A new passing track had to be installed at the Folsom Glenn/Robert G. Holderness Station in order to launch the faster interval service. However, the project had run into some resistance from some community members who opposed SacRT cutting down nearly two dozen trees along Folsom Boulevard in order to build the track.
The updated Glenn/Robert G. Holderness Station was originally supposed to open in October. A bus bridge had been in place to get riders around the work.
SacRT hails the project as an important milestone in modernizing public transit in the region.
