Loveland 76, Greeley Central 23, in Loveland: The Wildcats fell behind early and were never able to recover. The 23 points were the lowest total this Greeley Central team (1-5) has been held to this season.
Sidney 61, Platte Valley 41, in Sidney, Neb.: The Broncos were no match for a very stout Sidney team over the weekend. Platte Valley falls to 2-6 with the loss and has two more games before they open Class 3A Patriot League play.
Fossil Ridge 51, Severance 35, in Fort Collins: Severance wasn’t able to overcome rough second and third quarters, falling to 5-4 on the year. After tying the SaberCats through one quarter, Fossil Ridge outscored the Silver Knights 32-14 across the middle two periods. Junior Blake Varney led Severance with 15 points, and junior Brett Varney pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.
Girls basketball
Greeley Central 55, Loveland 42, in Loveland: Greeley Central got 2025 started with a win behind a dominant second-half performance to level its record at 3-3. After trailing by three at halftime, the Wildcats outscored the Red Wolves 34-18 in the second half to secure the victory. Senior Madison Sepeda led the way for the Wildcats, pouring in 27 points on 10 of 21 from the field.

The Silver Knights fall to 3-5 ahead of a Class 4A Longs Peak Conference game vs. Timnath.
Boys wrestling
Windsor second, Roosevelt third, Severance seventh at Arnold “Torgy” Torgerson Memorial, in Fort Collins: Windsor led all Weld County competitors, taking home second place with 188 points, just ahead of Roosevelt (169), who finished third and Severance (79.5) who took home seventh place. Maddox Lechman (120), Robert Kendall (165), Santi Fernandez (175) and Evan Perez (215) all won their respective weight classes. The Wizards were aided by another second-place finisher and three third-place finishers. Roosevelt actually picked up one more win than the Wizards, but still fell behind them in total points. Kash Long (120), Travis Long (132), Malakii Martin (138), Chris LaLonde (144) and Michael Garcia (190) all took home gold for the Roughriders. Severance’s top finisher was 113-pounder Tatum Garcia, who finished second. Simon Carter (106) finished third and Dennis Campos (126) took home fourth.
Greeley West splits with Arapahoe, Rocky Mountain at Legend Duals, in Parker: The Spartans went .500 in a pair of duals, topping Arapahoe 53-30 and falling to Rocky Mountain 63-18. Julian Chavez (126) won by pinball against both his opponents, pinning Arapahoe’s Mason Mitchell in 1:43 and Rocky Mountain’s Rocky Royal in 2:40.
Fort Lupton sixth, Greeley Central seventh at Colfax Smackdown in Denver.: Fort Lupton took home sixth place with 43 points — one position ahead of Greeley Central, which finished with 35.5 points. The Bluedevils were led by a first-place finish by 120-pounder Logan Sweetman and a second-place finish by 106-pounder Isaiah Rodriguez. Rodriguez lost his gold-medal match to Central’s only first-place finisher, Daniel Romero. Noan Garcia-Salazar (150) took home silver for the Wildcats.
Dayspring splits duals with Limon, Wray, in Greeley: Dayspring Christian split a pair of duals, topping Limon 42-24 and falling to Wray 42-33. Liam DeBoer (126), Kai Polk (132), Elijah Martin (144), Logan Clark (150) and Joseph Noce (165) all won both of their matches by way of pinfall. Clark pinned Limon’s Larry Poss in just 11 seconds in his first match.
Weld Central finishes fourth at Mark Purslow invitational in Bennett: The Rebels picked up 113 points — good four fourth place — behind one win and a trio of runner-up finishes. Gavin Kitzman (138) picked up Weld Central’s lone win, beating Trinidad’s Kellen Rivera by fall in 3:07. Christian Ontiveros (15), William Ellerman (157) and Wyatt Gerkin (190) all brought home silver.
Boys ice hockey
Resurrection Christian 4, Ralston Valley 3: The Cougars picked up their second win in a row — both over Ralston Valley — to climb over .500 in 5A League 4 play at 2-1. Resurrection Christian hits the ice again Saturday, hosting Chatfield.
