FULLERTON — It was a rough week for the Cal State Fullerton men’s basketball team.

Fullerton proved no match for streaking UC San Diego in a 90-51 home loss on Saturday night that came just 48 hours after the Titans found themselves on the wrong end of a record-setting shooting performance in a lopsided home loss to Cal State Northridge.

Fullerton (5-11 overall, 0-4 Big West) hung in the game early, before the Tritons (13-2, 3-0) went on an 11-0 run to extend their lead to 27-12. The Tritons forced 12 Fullerton turnovers before halftime, converting the miscues into 17 points and opening a 46-23 lead by the intermission.

The Titans struggled to score all night and were held scoreless for the first 7:10 of the second half. Fullerton’s scoring drought helped UCSD blow the game open with an extended 45-11 run over a 17-minute stretch and rolled to its 11th consecutive win. The visitors led by as much as 50 before it was over.

Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones led UCSD with 24 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field and an 8-for-8 effort at the free-throw line, while Tyler McGhie had 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting (4 for 9 from 3-point range).

Antwan Robinson was the only Titan to score in double figures, with 12 points in just 10 minutes off the bench in the second half. Robinson shot 2 for 4 from 3-point range and 6 for 6 at the free-throw line. Zion Richardson added nine points off the bench on a night when the Titans shot just 32.7% from the field (16 for 49) and had five assists and 21 turnovers.
