The 2024/25 PDC World Darts Championship will come to an end on Friday night and the best players on the planet are competing for the richest prize in the sport.

This is one of the best events on the British sporting calendar these days, and the winner walks home with a cool six-figure sum plus the Sid Waddel Trophy.

This is a tournament that makes new stars, just ask Luke Littler.

Last year, the then-16-year-old stunned everyone by reaching the final on his debut only to lose 7-4 to Luke Humphries.

Despite that, ‘The Nuke’ became an overnight sensation and will look to go one better this time around to further boost his earnings.

He’s now the major favourite to win the World Championship, with Michael van Gerwen the last man standing in his way.

PDC World Darts Championship: Prize money

The 96 players taking part in this edition of the PDC World Darts Championship at the Alexandra Palace are competing for a huge prize pot worth £2.5million.

Every player who made the event has walked away with a guaranteed £7,500.

From there, the money gradually increases round-by-round until we get to the final four.

The semi-finalists claim £100,000 each.

Whoever finishes as runner-up will take home £200,000, while the winner claims a whopping £500,000.

Humphries managed to change his life by claiming that prize last Christmas but he crashed out of this year’s event in the fourth round.

PDC World Darts Championship prize money breakdown

As well as this prize pot, there is also extra money on offer.

If any player hits a nine-dart finish, they will receive £60,000.

Paddy Power will also match this with a donation to Cancer Research UK, while a lucky fan at Ally Pally will also be selected to collect a cheque for £60k.

Christian Kist and Damon Heta have both hit nine-dart finishes at the event so far this year.

PDC World Darts Championship: What’s been said?

Littler is into back-to-back finals and has bagged himself at least £200,000.

However, all he is thinking about is the trophy.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, he said: “I just need to reset the batteries and go again tomorrow.

“I felt very confident tonight, and I am glad I am playing with confidence.

“I think everyone else is looking forward to the final more than I am, but if I won seven sets, I’ll be happy.

“I know where I went wrong last year, and I am sure I will fix it.

“To win would mean everything.”
