San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy exited late with an apparent right arm injury in the 49ers’ Monday Night Football loss against the Detroit Lions.
Afterwards, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan gave an initial injury update on Purdy, revealing that the 49ers quarterback departed after injuring his right elbow.
That’s the same elbow that Purdy tore his ulnar collateral ligament in during the 2022 NFC championship game loss versus the Philadelphia Eagles.
Shanahan said that Purdy’s status for the 49ers’ season finale at Arizona on Sunday, Jan. 5 is now up in the air.

Per ESPN’s Nick Wagoner, Shanahan said the initial belief is that the injury is not serious and that Purdy just got hit in the wrong spot, leading to some nerve issues.
Purdy will need more testing tomorrow to confirm that it is not a long-term concern and his status remains up in the air for the season finale against the Arizona Cardinals.
