The quarterback was hit with a $5,628 fine for his violation of the NFL‘s strict uniform rules during the Eagles’ win over the Steelers earlier this month.

Hurts was slapped with the fine as his Air Jordan cleats had two shades of green on them.

The NFL’s uniform color rules state that players’ attire must be completely consistent.

Hurts’ wearing of ‘Midnight Green’ and ‘Kelly Green’ cleats constituted a violation of the rules, which they informed him of through a letter.

An excerpt of the letter read: “Dear Jalen. During the Pittsburg Steelers-Philadelphia Eagles Game on December 15, 2025, you were in violation of the NFL Uniform and Equipment Rules.

“Specifically, you wore a shoe color that was not one of your team’s Constitutional colors.

“Rule 5, Section 4, Article 3 Item (7) of the 2024 Official Playing Rules of the National Football League states that ‘a player may wear shoes that are black, white, or any Constitutional team color or any combination of black, white, and a Constitutional team colour.’

“NFL policy on uniforms and equipment and the ‘On Field Program is disseminated to players through playbook inserts, locker-room posters, and training-camp videos.

“In accordance with the document entitled, ‘2024 GAME-RELATED DISCIPLINE, which was among the playbook materials distributed to you earlier this season the League is imposing on you a fine of $5,628.”

Hurts, however, won’t have to dip into his deep pockets as Nike – the producers of Air Jordans – have reportedly opted to stump up the cash for the fine.

American Football fans were quick to react to the news on social media, with one saying: “Cheap PR campaign for them.”

Another said: “W [for the] brand.”

And another said: “Man that’s nothing compared to the NBA.”

One remarked: “That’s cheap advertising for Jordan Brand.”

Another chimed in: “Nike Did it for Mike J (Michael Jordan) …..He[‘]s just returning the favor.”

The Eagles will be back in action on Sunday, travelling to AT&T Stadium to take on the Dallas Cowboys.

Hurts, however, won’t be in action as he remains in concussion protocol after his head hit the turf in the first quarter of last weekend’s clash with the Washington Commanders.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said on Friday: “[Hurts] is still in the protocol. It’s going to be tough for him to make it this week.”
