Wet Christmas Eve Forecast in County, Followed by Sunny and Cool Christmas Day ...Middle East

News by : (Times of San Diego) -

It won’t be a white Christmas, but it’s shaping up to be a slightly wet one, according to the National Weather Service.

“It is not going to be very heavy, just enough to wet the cars and the ground, a couple showers but nothing too drenching,” said NWS meteorologist David Munyan, who estimated there is a 60% chance of rain on Christmas Eve.

Rainfall on Tuesday is expected to be minimal, with less than 0.15” inches predicted. Higher amounts may occur in the mountains, while the deserts will see little to no precipitation.

Munyan said rain is likely to fall starting at 5 or 6 p.m. on Tuesday but won’t last into Christmas Day.

“It will clear out completely and Christmas Day should be sunny but on the cool side,” he said.

Temperatures are expected to hover near normal levels, potentially dipping up to five degrees below average.

“Overall temperatures are likely to be in the low- to mid-60s along the coast, and the upper 60s in the inland valleys on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as well,” he said.

High temperatures Tuesday are expected to reach 59 to 66 in the mountains and around 78 in the deserts, cooling to a range of 53 to 60 and 70 to 74, respectively, on Christmas Day, according to the NWS.

High surf along the coast is also expected to continue, with waves reaching 10 to 12 feet through the holiday.

As for the mountains, Munyan didn’t rule out snow at the highest peaks.

“We maybe will see some flurries,” he said.
