Uttar Pradesh captain Sameer Rizvi achieved the feat in the match against Tripura on Saturday (21st December). The match between the two teams took place at the Kotambi Stadium B Ground, Vadodara and it saw a history getting scripted.
Rizvi walked into bat in the 23rd over, and after that, it was an exhibition of high-class batting by him. The batter produced a dominating effort with the bat as he almost took his team to a total of 405 runs, making a mockery of the Tripura bowlers.
Sameer Rizvi played an unbeaten innings of 201 off just 97 balls, registering the fastest double-century in the history of the tournament
The bowlers of Uttar Pradesh then completed the job as they restricted the Tripura team to a total of 253 runs to win the game by 152 runs and gain important points in the Men's U23 State A Trophy as he led from the front in the game, which took place in Vadodara.
This knock of his, however, won't be counted in the List A record. The record for the fastest double century in List A cricket is currently held by New Zealand’s Chad Bowes. He broke the record of India’s Narayan Jagadeesan and Australia’s Travis Head. Both batters achieved the milestone of 114 balls during the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Marsh Cup, respectively.
Sameer Rizvi's form will be a massive boost for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025
In the ongoing State tournament, he has been in a staggering form. The batter has played two back-to-back stellar knocks, scoring 153 in one match and an unbeaten 137 in another.
