Interfaith service to honor homeless people who died in OC ...Middle East

News by : (The Orange County Register) -

The ninth annual Homeless Persons’ Inter-Religious Memorial Service will honor those who died without a home in Orange County this year.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, the first day of winter and the longest night of the year, at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 24231 El Toro Rd. in Laguna Woods. It will also be live-streamed at lcotc.online.church/.

Since 1990, the National Coalition for the Homeless has sponsored National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day every year on Dec. 21, to bring attention to this tragedy. The name of every person who died homeless in the county will be read aloud, and volunteers will light a candle to mark each person’s passing.

In many cases, this service will be the only commemoration of their lives, said organizer Gina Marie Seriel, executive director of Our Father’s Table.
