A multi-agency crackdown on sex-trafficking in San Diego County resulted in a dozen solicitation arrests, authorities said Thursday.
The annual effort, dubbed Operation Home for the Holidays, was conducted this year over a two-day period in National City and Encinitas, according to California Attorney General Rob Bonta’s office.
The operation involved law enforcement personnel from the San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force posing undercover as sex-service buyers.
Along with the arrests, six people who met with undercover officers to offer commercial sex “were offered access to resources and supportive services,” the A.G.’s Office said.
In a statement, Bonta said Operation Home for the Holidays “stands as a vital initiative in our collective mission to protect our communities and combat human trafficking.”
Task force members include Bonta’s office, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, California Highway Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation, San Diego County Sheriff’s Office and San Diego and National City police.
