Cristiano Ronaldo has made history as the highest goal-scorer in international football, netting an impressive 133 goals in 213 appearances for the Portuguese national team. On Monday, during the Quinas de Ouro gala, he was honored with the prestigious Platinum Quinas trophy, recognizing his remarkable contributions and status as an outstanding ambassador for Portugal, having secured over 200 caps for his country.

The gala, organized by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) in collaboration with the Professional Football Players' Union (SJPF) and the National Association of Football Coaches (ANTF), was attended by notable figures, including Prime Minister Luís Montenegro and FPF President Fernando Gomes. During the event, Gomes praised Ronaldo as an exemplary ambassador for Portugal, stating, "The most prestigious trophy is the Platinum Quinas. If there is an ambassador for Portugal who truly deserves it, it is undoubtedly Cristiano Ronaldo. He has dedicated over 20 years to the national team and exemplifies a profound love for representing Portugal."

The ceremony took place at the Cultural Center of Belém in Lisbon, where Ronaldo's commitment to his country was highlighted.

Ronaldo's Perspective on His Career

Despite his historic achievements, Ronaldo remains focused on living in the moment. He has expressed a desire to play for as long as possible, acknowledging the significance of each game. "I now face my life as living in the moment. I can't think long term anymore. I publicly stated I wanted to reach 1,000 goals, but now I see everything as achievable. Just last month, I reached 900," he reflected. Ronaldo emphasized the importance of how his body responds in the coming years, accepting that if he reaches 1,000 goals, great; if not, he is already the all-time leading goal-scorer.

Recently, Ronaldo scored during Al-Nassr's 5-1 victory over Al-Ain in the AFC Champions League, helping his team secure a spot among the top three in the standings. Al-Nassr currently has 10 points from four matches, trailing behind local rivals Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli, both of whom have won all their games. Ronaldo, who was the league's top scorer last season, has netted six goals this season.

Honoring Football Legends

The gala also featured a tribute to former international Pepe, who retired in August after a distinguished career marked by 141 caps. Pepe expressed his gratitude, saying, "Portugal changed my life. I always tried to give my best and honored the principles of this humble and hardworking nation."

Additionally, Portuguese internationals Diogo Costa, Rúben Dias, and Vitinha were recognized for their achievements in the Ballon d'Or race, showcasing the talent emerging from Portugal.

The FPF president acknowledged the contributions of five clubs—Sporting, FC Porto, Benfica, Sporting de Braga, and Vitória de Guimarães—that have played a crucial role in developing many players. Club presidents were invited to the stage, with Jorge Jesus, coach of Al-Hilal, receiving recognition for his record-breaking achievements in the Middle East.

Recognizing Futsal Talent

João Matos, a prominent futsal player, received an award for reaching 200 caps for the Portuguese national futsal team. Matos shared his surprise at receiving the accolade, reflecting on his 23 years with Sporting and the incredible journey that led to his 41 titles.

This gala not only celebrated Ronaldo's monumental achievements but also honored the rich tapestry of Portuguese football and its enduring legacy.
