MCBEE, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) - Before the ink dried on our Oct. 21 report detailing ethics charges filed against McBee's mayor and vice mayor, someone sent us an audio recording of a town council meeting. The meeting is likely long forgotten about. It happened nearly four years ago. During that Feb. 2, 2021, council meeting, then-mayor John Campolong and council members Bea Bolton, Kemp McLeod, and Charlie Sutton considered passing a new ordinance, mandating the city operate its own water system since the town was indebted to the U.S. Department of Agriculture on a loan to repair its water system. This note was posted on the deposit box outside McBee town hall in June 2023.
