On a sunny afternoon at Wembley Stadium, Solihull Moors faced off against Bromley in the National League Promotion Final. Both teams fought valiantly for 90 minutes, but the score remained deadlocked at 1-1, forcing the match into extra time. The tension was palpable as both sides pushed for a decisive goal, but neither could break the deadlock.

As the match went to penalties, it was Bromley who held their nerve and emerged victorious with a 4-3 win. Solihull Moors' dreams of promotion were shattered in heartbreaking fashion as they fell just short of their goal. Despite the defeat, they can hold their heads high knowing they gave it their all on the grand stage of Wembley.

Skipper Byron Webster slotted the decisive spot-kick as Bromley won 4-3 on penalties after 120 minutes of football in the National League play-off final had produced a 2-2 draw.

Bromley, who finished the season two places and five points above Solihull in third, went ahead after 41 minutes through Michael Cheek's cool finish as Solihull appeals for a foul on Alex Whitmore went unheard.

Some things even happen more than once. Take goalkeeper Grant Smith, for example. Twelve months ago, he was also exiting Step One. Back then it was a case of sliding helplessly down the relegation snake with Yeovil. Now? Smith’s pair of penalty shootout saves – first from Tyrese Shade and then Joss Labadie – gave Bromley a firm foot up the ladder.

All that remained was for the Bromley captain, Byron Webster, to complete a personal triptych. Webster, twice a League One playoff final winner, coolly dispatched his spot-kick. Promotion was sealed.

Jamie Osborne advanced to beat Smith from 20 yards, but it was the Bromley goalkeeper who was to ultimately prove the hero.

Smith saved Solihull's first two penalties from Tyrese Shade and Joss Labadie, and Cheek, Olufela Olomola and Jude Arthurs held their nerve before Webster sent Bromley up to the fourth tier of English football.
