Line Of Duty and Rob Roy actor Brian McCardie dies aged 59

The world of entertainment has lost a talented actor with the passing of Brian McCardie at the age of 59. Known for his roles in popular TV series such as Line of Duty and Rob Roy, McCardie's performances captivated audiences and showcased his immense talent. His ability to bring characters to life on screen was truly remarkable, earning him a loyal following of fans.

McCardie's contributions to the entertainment industry will not be forgotten, as he leaves behind a legacy of memorable performances that will continue to be celebrated for years to come. McCardie recently appeared in the BBC drama Time, while he had also been involved in filming the forthcoming Outlander prequel Blood of My Blood.

His family said that he was "gone much too soon" and described him as a "wonderful and passionate actor."

Sarah McCardie told BBC Scotland News that the family were "devastated".

She said: "Brian loved his work and touched many lives, and is gone much too soon. We love him and will miss him greatly."

Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio and executive producer Simon Heath said they had been "honoured" to work with him.

He also appeared in several TV roles, including the recent Agatha Christie adaptation Murder is Easy, the mini-series Titanic and the Dundee-set drama Dog Days.

In a statement, Bafta Scotland said on X/Twitter: “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of actor Brian McCardie. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and peers at this difficult time.”

BBC. “Off-screen, Brian couldn’t have been more different from the character he played — he was warm, funny and charming. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this difficult time.”

McCardie was most recently filming the Outlander prequel “Blood of My Blood.” His other credits include “Time,” “Rob Roy,” “Filth,” “The Damned United” and “Murder Is Easy.”

Several tributes to Brian have emerged, with many declaring their admiration for the actor and grief from the news of his passing. 

Actor Simon Weir wrote: Just devastated by this. Nobody made me laugh like you Brian.

"Proud to have been your friend and will miss you more than words can say. Rest in peace old friend."
