Willie Limond passed away at the age of 45, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and skill in the sport. Limond held the lightweight Commonwealth title between 2006-07, the super-lightweight title from 2013-14 and the British super-lightweight belt in 2014.

Limond, who previously made five league appearances as a footballer for Albion Rovers, held the British super lightweight title in 2014 after beating Curtis Woodhouse via majority decision.

The fight hero had been due to take on Joe Laws next month with Limond in training before the tragic events. A statement from St Andrew's Sporting Club read: "Everyone at St Andrew’s Sporting Club are shocked and deeply saddened at the loss of our friend, Willie Limond. Willie was not only a legend of the sport, but an infectious character who will be greatly missed by us all."
