The Los Angeles Clippers and the Memphis Grizzlies have a long-standing rivalry that has captivated basketball fans for years. Both teams have had their fair share of successes and failures, but when they face off against each other, it is always a thrilling matchup.
The Clippers, led by superstars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, bring a high-flying offense and stifling defense to the court. They are known for their fast-paced style of play and ability to score from anywhere on the court.
Despite a valiant effort from Memphis, led by standout performances from Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr., they ultimately fell short in their quest for victory. The Clippers' ability to execute in clutch moments and capitalize on key opportunities allowed them to secure the win in front of their home crowd.
Memphis (20-36) won two games in a row just before the break, beating the Rockets and Bucks in a pair of upsets at home. While the Grizzlies are still without a slew of injured players, they're likely have Jaren Jackson Jr. back after he missed the win over the Bucks. Jake LaRavia, who has missed more than a month, is also expected to return Friday.
The Grizzlies have struggled with injuries this season and will still be without Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Marcus Smart for an extended period of time. Morant is out for the season, while Bane and Smart are both out for at least three more weeks.
Through three quarters, the game remained close as neither team led by double digits and there were 11 lead changes and eight ties at that point. The Clippers carried a 79-75 lead into the fourth, after outscoring Memphis 26-16 in the third. But things remained close in the fourth.
Leonard converted a turnover by Memphis into a dunk. Mann rebounded a miss for a dunk 24 seconds later to put the Clippers up 96-93. A 3-pointer by James Harden with 46.2 seconds left, his only basket of the night, put the game out of Memphis’ reach.
it was a hard-fought contest that showcased the talent and determination of both teams, but in the end, it was the Clippers who came out on top with a well-deserved victory.
