Ruby Franke, known for her family vlogs and wholesome content, recently made headlines for all the wrong reasons. Franke was sentenced in a child abuse case that shocked her fans and followers.
The allegations against Franke included physical abuse towards her children, which were captured on camera and shared on her popular YouTube channel. The videos showed disturbing scenes of Franke yelling at and hitting her children, leading to outrage and calls for justice.
Ruby Franke, who pleaded guilty to aggravated child abuse of two of her children, was sentenced Tuesday to four consecutive sentences of one to 15 years in prison.
The amount of time Franke spends in jail will be up to the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole.
Franke and her former business partner, Connexions Classroom founder Jodi Hildebrandt, both pleaded guilty to four counts of child abuse in Washington County 5th District Court in Utah in December.
Franke and Hildebrandt were each sentenced Tuesday to one to 15 years prison for each of their four child abuse counts. Their sentences will run consecutively. That means the women could serve up to 30 years in prison, since Utah state code prohibits consecutive penalties to exceed 30 years.
Franke and Hildebrandt’s total prison time will be determined by the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole, 5th District Judge John Walton said Tuesday.
Eric Clarke compared the environment Franke's children faced to a "concentration camp-like setting," and said that Franke "committed horrible acts of child abuse." While addressing Hildebrandt's charges, Clarke called her a "significant threat" to the community. 
In a plea agreement, Hildebrandt stated that she either tortured the children or was aware of the abuse and that she forced one of Franke's daughters to "jump into a cactus multiple times".
Franke told her children that they were "evil and possessed" and needed to "repent".
Through his lawyer, Franke's ex-husband Kevin Franke asked prior to the hearing for the maximum sentence to be imposed and called the abuse suffered by his children "horrific and inhumane".
