Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson suspended by NBA

NBA has sparked controversy and debate among fans and analysts alike. While some argue that the punishment is too harsh, I firmly believe that it was necessary to maintain the integrity of the game and send a strong message against unsportsmanlike conduct.

Thompson's suspension stems from his altercation with Brooklyn Nets' center Jarrett Allen during a game. The incident involved Thompson aggressively shoving Allen, which not only endangered both players but also violated the NBA's code of conduct. Such actions have no place in professional sports, where athletes are expected to compete with skill and respect for one another.

Thompson, 32, tested positive for performance enhancing ibutamoren and SARM LGD-4033, according to an NBA statement.

He will not be in uniform when the visiting Cavaliers take the floor Wednesday against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Cavaliers said they "fully support" the NBA's anti-drug programs and "are disappointed in the recent news surrounding Tristan Thompson."

The Cavs said in a statement that they fully support the NBA's anti-drug program and added that they stand behind Thompson and offer their support throughout his suspension.

Thompson is in his second stint with the Cavs, who originally drafted the Canadian player with the fourth overall pick in the 2011 draft. The 6-foot-11 Thompson has become a beloved player in Cleveland. He was a member of the 2016 NBA championship team, which won the city's first major pro sports title since 1964.
