DeSean Jackson to retire as a Philadelphia Eagle

NFL history, DeSean Jackson will officially retire as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, December 1. The three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver – all with Philadelphia – will be recognized as the Honorary Captain of the Game in front of a sold-out crowd at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, December 3.

The former Eagles second-round pick will be recognized as an honorary captain during Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

The Cal speedster shot out of the gate in 2008, generating 912 yards and two TDs as a rookie, but his exploits were just taking off. In his first six seasons with the Eagles, Jackson earned three Pro Bowl nods -- as a receiver and returner -- generated three 1,000-yard seasons and countless big plays. Perhaps no play was more memorable than the Miracle at the New Meadowlands in 2010 when Jackson returned a punt 65 yards for the game-winning touchdown with no time left to cap a miraculous comeback over the Giants.

Jackson went to three Pro Bowls for the Eagles in 2009, 2010 and 2013. He ranks third all-time among Eagles in receiving yards with 6,512 and is tied for the team's all-time lead in punt return touchdowns with Darren Sproles. Both have four punt return TDs.

After his release, Jackson went on to play for Washington and then Tampa Bay before returning to the Eagles for the 2019 and 2020 seasons. He then had stints with the Los Angeles Rams, Las Vegas Raiders and most recently played for the Baltimore Ravens in 2022, getting 153 yards on 17 targets.

Jackson has 641 catches for 11,263 yards and 58 touchdowns in 183 career games. He also ran 72 times for 463 yards and four touchdowns and returned four punts for scores, including a walk-off return against the Giants in 2010 that likely goes down as his most memorable NFL moment.

Jackson is 75th in catches and 38th in receiving yards in NFL history. He ranks sixth and third in Eagles history in those two categories.
