Liverpool defeted by Tottenham (2-1)

Liverpool are not a "kicking team" and criticised what he called "crazy decisions" following his side's 2-1 defeat at Tottenham after receiving two red cards.

Curtis Jones was sent off in the 26th minute for a foul on Yves Bissouma when VAR directed referee Simon Hooper to the review screen after he had initially issued a yellow card. Substitute Diogo Jota was then dismissed in the second half after picking up two yellow cards in the space of two minutes for fouls on Spurs defender Destiny Udogie.

Tottenham Hotspur will be in front of their home fans on Saturday, but a look at the line shows they might need that home-pitch advantage. They will take on Liverpool at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. Tottenham Hotspur will really need to gear up for this challenge, as Liverpool will be their toughest opponent yet.

Tottenham Hotspur has not lost a game since May 20th, a trend which continued on Sunday. Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal ended up with a point apiece after a 2-2 draw. The only reason Tottenham Hotspur dodged a loss was the performance of Heung-Min Son, who scored both goals for the team.

Meanwhile, Liverpool put another one in the bag on Sunday to keep their undefeated season alive. They walked away with a 3-1 win over West Ham United. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but Liverpool was the better team in the second half.

Liverpool also had a Luis Díaz goal controversially ruled out for offside when the game was 0-0, a decision that PGMOL later admitted was incorrect due to "significant human error."

"I never saw a game like this with the most unfair circumstances, crazy decisions," Klopp told Sky Sports.

Cody Gakpo had earlier canceled out Son Heung-min's opener in the first half.

Klopp said Gakpo could now be facing a spell on the sidelines after injuring his knee shortly before scoring Liverpool's goal.

"Cody got injured," Klopp said. "He is in a brace limping down the corridor. We have lost two players [to suspension] and maybe a third [to injury]. Really bad. It's something we have to deal with.

But the tide began to turn last season with the appointment of former Philadelphia Union assistant Pat Noonan -- the club's fourth permanent head coach in MLS -- and the arrival of Argentine playmaker Luciano Acosta.

A first playoff appearance followed at the end of 2022 before the team came storming out of the gates in 2023, losing just one of its first 18 matches.

Acosta has been the star of the show, with a league-leading 15 goals as well as 13 assists to make him the clear front-runner for the MVP award.

Despite clinching the Supporters' Shield, Cincinnati still has something to play for in the remainder of the regular season. Should the team win its final three games, it will eclipse the single-season MLS points record of 73 set by the New England Revolution in 2021.
