Anaheim Ducks player Nic Kerdiles dies at 29

Nic Kerdiles, who was previously engaged to "Chrisley Knows Best" star Savannah Chrisley, died early Saturday in a motorcycle crash, authorities said.

"The preliminary investigation shows that Kerdiles was driving his Indian Motorcycle west on Wheless Street when he traveled through the stop sign and struck the driver’s side of the BMW," the department said in a statement provided to News affiliate WSMV of Nashville.

Kerdiles was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead Saturday, police said.

Nashville police say that a preliminary investigation shows that Kerdiles was driving his Indian Motorcycle west on Wheless Street around 3:30 a.m. when he ran a stop sign and struck the driver's side of a BMW SUV.

Kerdiles, 29, died on Saturday after he ran his Indian Motorcycle through a stop sign in a residential area north of central Nashville at around 3:30 a.m, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department reportedly told WRKN News 2.

According to the Nashville station, police said Kerdiles' motorcycle hit the driver's side of a BMW. The driver of the BMW was reportedly not injured, but Kerdiles died from his injuries after he was transported to a nearby hospital.

Chrisley’s rep did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment, and a rep for the MNPD and Kerdiles could not be reached.

California when he was a child, and he went on to play Division I hockey at Wisconsin. In 60 games with the Badgers, he totaled 26 goals and 55 assists.

The Ducks selected Kerdiles with the No. 36 overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft. In 2017, Kerdiles made his NHL debut, playing in one regular season game with the team. He did appear in four playoff games that year when the Ducks made their run to the Western Conference Finals, tallying one assist.

The following season, Kerdiles saw action in two games with the Ducks but spent most of the season with the AHL's San Diego Gulls.
