WALBRIDGE – The village will donate property to Habitat for Humanity for a home to be built in 2025. At its Sept. 6 meeting, council approved donating the 0.18-acre parcel at 117 W. Perry St., at the corner of Railroad Street. The property was awarded to the city after its previous residents passed away. The property was declared a nuisance and the house was demolished, said Mayor Ed Kolanko. The land is valued at $17,500, said council member Sue Hart-Douglas. Habitat for Humanity has already built two homes in the village, Kolanko said. Council approved the donation. Also at the meeting, council members discussed a revision to an ordinance to begin fining residents who don’t mow their lawns
