Yorkshire Day, a day established in 1975 that has grown in significance every year.
As part of the celebrations this year, Yorkshire’s very own superhero Yorkshire-Man will be diving into a giant mug of tea at York Maze.
The mug in question is 8ft tall and holds over 1000 gallons (5000 litres), the equivalent of over 17,000 mugs of tea.
New York Brass Band will also be there to entertain the crowds with their mix of contemporary tunes and Yorkshire favourites, as well as Yorkshire-themed games and Yorkshire puddings available from the York Maze cafe.
Key characteristics include shorted vowel sounds, dropped ‘h’ and ‘g’ sounds at the start and end of words, and the letter ‘t’ generally being half pronounced, or dropped all together.
The unique turn of phrase has brought with it a number of classic sayings over the years that only true Yorkshire folk can deliver with such passion, fury and annoyance.
We asked Express readers to name Yorkshire sayings and expressions – how many of these do you use?

The preference for Yorkshire Day still seems to fly the traditional flag depicting a white Yorkshire rose on a blue background in solidarity with the other two ridings, but the East Riding of Yorkshire now has its own flag with the white rose on two colours; a blue representing maritime and a green for agriculture.
