A 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck Tuesday afternoon near Ukiah, the United States Geological Survey reported. According to the USGS, a quake registering 3.4M hit about 1:20 p.m. Aug. 31, and was centered about 4 km from Talmage, located just southeast of Ukiah in Mendocino County. Also according to the USGS, at least 87 people reported feeling the quake within 30 minutes, including 66 in Ukiah, nine in Redwood Valley, three each in Potter Valley and Willits, and one person each in cities as far away as Modesto and Visalia.
