Fireworks explosion reported inside house in Hayward, police on the scene ...Middle East

(KRON) -- The Hayward Police Department is on the scene of a fireworks explosion inside a house Thursday afternoon. Police and fire personnel are "actively working the scene" of the explosion, which occurred in the vicinity of Mandarin Avenue and Sumatra Street, police said.

The scene remains an active emergency, according to police. The public is being asked to avoid the area. There was no initial word on whether anyone had been injured in the blast.
