With the calendar turning to July, the 2024-25 college athletics season officially came to a close. When closing the books on the athletic year, athletic departments reveal the NCAA violations they self-reported.
Alabama athletics reported a total of 6 violations in 2024-25 across 5 sports. Crimson Tide fans will be pleased to know that none of the violations involve the football or basketball programs.
All violations are Level 3, the lowest level. The baseball program was tagged with 2 violations, while tennis, gymnastics, soccer and rowing also self-reported. UA fans are likely to be more amused than concerned by the violations.
One of the Alabama baseball violations is for a recruit charging high-speed internet to his room during an official visit. The program also included an unsigned verbally committed name in a press release about Crimson Tide selections in the MLB Draft.
The baseball staff received rules education on the violations. The recruit was not considered eligible until the value of the charge was paid to a charity.
The tennis program had to self-report a coach buying a koozie for a recruit during an official visit. Surprisingly, that violation prompted 4 courses of corrective action.
The men’s tennis staff received rules education. The coach was also given a letter of admonishment. The recruit was required to repay the value of the gift to charity. The team can only have 1 off-campus contact per academic year with the recruit.
Other self-reported violations from Alabama athletics involved a gymnastics recruit committing to the staff at a camp and the number of off days provided to the women’s soccer and rowing teams.
